![]() The game is open-ended and progress are kept track of by amount of money accumulated, and the player status, going from 'harmless' to 'elite' ranking. Optionally you can become a pirate yourself and waylay AI trader pilots, but this gets you in trouble with the police force, and limits the available trading options. Money can be earned by collecting bounty from destroying the pirates, or mining asteroids. En route in normal space to the target system your ship may be also be attacked by pirates, so it's recommended to have some armaments to survive in the long run. You travel between systems through wormholes in hyperspace, called 'witch-space', in which aliens may attack your ship. The gameplay revolves around trading, buying commodities in one system cheap, transporting it to another system and selling it for profit. Thus a few 'recommended' lists are presented on the games community forums. There are many optional expansion packs called OXP:s that can add functionality or missions to the basic game, though new players are recommended to limit the additions so as not to make the game too difficult to play. ![]() While you may be acting in good faith and simply be a fan others may not.Oolite is an Elite-inspired open-source space trading and combat simulation, with context and story similar to the original Elite. It was only one of many projects that held up hopes, but ended up discarded because of various reasons. That is, until Giles Williams from Aegidian first released Oolite for Mac in 2004. I would also advise against posting videos about methods to extract models from games on the Steam forums but I leave that to the Steam moderators to sort out. Oolite is an entirely independent interpretation and expansion of the original game. R* games has shut down various private instances of their games in the past and so on. No profits were made off of the project, no false representations were made and the project was done in good faith but eventually the IP owner shut them down. The full 3D mockup of the Enterprise starship available online was issued a cease and desist and the entire project had to be scrapped. but at any time they can, and have, retained full rights of their property and can, and have, issue(d) cease and desists. They may temporarily grant exclusions, partnerships, etc. It is when the studio does not agree to it where the issues can arise.īut know that any IP owner has full rights to their property. Some streamers are associated with game studios to stream content and some games on Steam actively encourage this. However, my guess is game studios don't mind b/c it is free publicity and advertising and they often work with streamers to get their games out there. Twitch is treading on extremely thin ground by allowing hours and hours of gameplay to be streamed. ![]() of game play and music as long as you give credit / reference to the authors of the content and do not play the entirety of the work. You can post videos of ED gameplay under fair use but YouTube was having issues with people flagging content of any type.which is also illegal since fair use states you may use portions, audio clips, etc. FD has the right to represent their brand how they choose and has full control of said representation. Using that brand recognition in another video that is not representing FD's interests and/or is not approved by FD is simply not fair to FD and in my country is illegal. When you see an ED sidewinder you know it comes from ED. The assets are worked on by artists at their studio and are proprietary assets. If they decompile the C# launcher with ILSpy and view it within MS C# it is against the EULA. If they decompile the code and view the assembly in an assembler it is against the EULA. So if someone extracts / decrypts the assets and load them into 3DS it is against the EULA. is all prohibited by most software EULAs except for some open source MIT's, etc. It does not matter if you make a profit off of said assets or keep them to yourself.
